So why am I featuring our wedding cake instead of a birthday cake in this birthday post??? Well, our 1 year wedding anniversary is next weekend, and I have seriously been counting down the days until we can finally eat some of this cake!!! Sure, I had a few nibbles at the tasting and we did each get a forkful (after several botched attempts at cutting the cake during the wedding). How does one botch the cake cutting? Well, the prankster side of Brian deliberately "accidentally" dropped the piece he was going to feed me off the fork, then the second time around he meant to do the real thing, but truly accidentally dropped the forkful, again....so it took us three tries to finally taste that cake. You can even see a small clip of this in our mini wedding recap video here.
As I recall, the flavors included red velvet with cream cheese filling, tahitian vanilla bean with fresh strawberries and cream, classic marble (yellow and chocolate cake) with dark chocolate ganache, and dark chocolate cake with cappachino frosting. I am 99.99% positive the top of the cake that we will be devouring next weekend is the chocolate/cappachino combination.
Happy Birthday Erin!! Enjoy your day! Martina
