We have two guest bedrooms in our house. The larger, blue ceiling-ed guest bedroom has served us, and a handful of guests, very well so far. The other guest bedroom isn't getting any action though. And I mean that in a completely innocent way. It's a perfectly good room, complete with a bed, bedroom furniture, crown molding, and dreamy white curtains. But when we have guests stay over the logical choice is to invite them stay in the larger guest bedroom.
Besides the small guest bedroom (and our formal dining room), I have to say, we really do use all of the rooms in our house. This makes me happy. :-) I decided there has to be a way we can get more use out of the smaller guest bedroom, while still keeping it a bedroom of sorts,
just in case we have a houseful of visitors one day.
I pondered what to do in this room for awhile, then it hit me last week when I was trying to wash pots and pans as quietly as possible while my husband was on a conference call just a few feet away......an office! I know, I know, this is probably the most obvious solution and you're probably saying to yourself "Why didn't they just make it an office as soon as they moved in???!!!" And I'd have to agree with you on that....I guess the only excuse I can come up with is that we were really occupied with trying to make the first floor as nice and livable as possible and this little spare room just went to the waaaay bottom of our renovation list. That and the fact that my husband spent basically the first eight months in our new home traveling for work and there wasn't much need for a home office. But now, thankfully, his schedule is more balanced with travel, and he is even able to work from home a bit. And with that, a home office/guest bedroom has officially been moved to the top of our projects list!
Because it's a small room
and because I want it to feel as office-y as possible, I've decided to reconfigure the full bed that's currently residing in the room into a daybed. Still totally functional for
action sleeping.
Here are some great daybed pictures I've found to help me get started with this project:

I have also been majorly inspired by
these DIY headboard instructions over at Aubrey & Lindsay's blog to help achieve that daybed look. First things, first though.
Once my husband was (happily) on board with this project, I repainted the pale pink (Creme Angels to be exact) bedroom to
????? . Those of you that have been to our house, you will notice that we aren't afraid of color on the walls! I am excited to share pictures of the final reveal once the room is complete. This is so unlike me. Normally I can't keep a secret and will insist on telling you what I bought you for your birthday present or at Christmas. So I am excited to have a surprise for the hubs and now for my readers, too! Stay tuned for more updates and the final reveal!!!
